Four Seasons Marrakech

Hotel Review | Four Seasons Marrakech

June 2025

We arrived at the Four Seasons Marrakech on a warm May afternoon, with great excitement. After spending 4 nights at a riad on the outskirts of the medina, we had wandered the vibrant souks and sampled some of the cities moroccan delights.

Four Seasons offered us the chance to completely unwind, unplug from the outside world and let the hotel and its staff cater to our every wish.

We checked into our garden view room, and stepped out onto the balcony terrace. We were greeted with vibrant colours of plants and palms, pops of purple flowering Jacaranda trees and glowing terracotta buildings, and most impressive of all, a glimpse of a distant mountain range on the horizon.

That evening we decided to try out the hotels Italian restaurant Quattro, and chose our table beside the long water feature, lit by flaming torches. With the sun setting, an acoustic guitarist played, there was a romance lingering in the air.

The menu offered an abundance of choice, the highlights of the meal were the Insulate di pere e gorgonzola, Pears with Gorgonzola and Honey. And the lamb in a coffee crust, celeriac and licorice, mille-feuille potato with a wilde berry sauce, all delicately styled and with artistic flair

The following day, our plans revolved around relaxing, and then maybe some more relaxing. The enormous buffet breakfast setting us up for the day, we sipped tea and tried the moroccan breads and pastries. And with the temperatures at a comfortable 25°c, we made our way down to one of the hotels pools. The hotel has two pools to chose from, a family-friendly pool, and an adults only pool.

Should you want to leave the comfort of your spacious room or comfortable sun lounger, the city of Marrakech hold many wonders and tourist hot spots to be explored. We visited the Jardin Majorelle, with adjoining Berber museum and YSL museum. For lovers of exotic plants, explosions of colour, the gardens were some of the best example of botanical and native plants that we’ve seen. This is a popular place to visit in Marrakech, so booking online is advisable.

We also managed to join the many admirers of the Ben Yousef college. Once the largest college of Islamic studies in North Africa, this 14th century marvel is an example of moorish craftsmanship and architecture, zelige tiles and carved wooden ceilings.

Top tip: To get the most from this experience, we advice visiting last thing in the day, with no crowds, you can get some fantastic shots at every angle.

After a day of book reading and napping by the pool, we headed to the hotels restaurant Inara, which offers traditional moroccan dishes with fusions of the middle east. We have tried many tagines over the years in Morocco, but this had to be the best. The chicken with lemon and olives was tender with punchy citrus flavours. We also tried the chicken motaffa, a Lebanese inspired dish of boneless chicken, marinaded with warm spiced tomato, served with fresh green beans. We of course finished the meal with traditional Moroccan mint tea, and made our way out into the sun soaked gardens.

ZEST ROOF TOP BAR

We are self confessed foodies, travel has opened up a world of cuisines, and asian flavours are our absolute favourite. The Zest Rooftop Bar, was a dining experience we were saving for the final night of our stay.

Nestled between the two resort pools, stands a solitary building with curved arches and a hidden treasure on the roof. The intricately carved wooden panel lift takes you up to the top, with spectacular 360° views of the resort landscaping and an even more incredible view of the distant hazy mountains. Zest Rooftop Bar feels cool and trendy, the decor reflects the name, with zesty greens and citrusy yellow soft furnishings. Perfectly fusing traditional moroccan tiling and sleek, modern furnishings, it’s a interior design cocktail of elegance and style with a dash of fun.

The menu did not disappoint, as we were delighted to see familiar favourites as well as try new and exciting flavours. We tried the Vietnamese spring rolls, the crispy prawns tossed with ginger, garlic and spring onion, followed by the Pad Thai (of course) and the black cod with red miso and pickled bamboo.

The sun was setting, the mountain tops were tinged with a golden glow, and a gentle breeze started to cool the warm the evening air. It was a perfect end to our last evening stay.

While staying at the Four Seasons Marrakech, the spa should be at the top of your list of the hotel experiences. The spa features a sauna, steam room, hammam, hot and cold water plunge pools, as well as multiple relaxation areas.

I chose a Argania firming 1 hour body massage while Pete relaxed in the sauna and spa. The therapy room was quiet, with light filtering through white muslin, the therapist entered the room and began the massage treatment with rituals to calm the senses. The room was lightly misted with fragrant grapefruit, and the chiming of tiny brass cymbals quietened the mind. Floating from away from the spa, we made our way back to the room to rest for the afternoon.

Our final day arrived, and with an evening flight booked for home, we had one more dining experience to try. The Azzera restaurant and bar is perfectly positioned next to the adults only pool, great for casual dining, or grabbing a mid afternoon mojito. Temperatures were soaring in to the 30’s today, but with the shade of the pergolas and over-head fans, eating alfresco was a great option.

The menu options are mediterranean in style with moroccan touches. We tried the papaya and burrata starter which featured a delicious basil oil dressing. Followed by the beef fillet with thyme potato mille-feuille and grilled vegetables, the beef was melt in the mouth and cooked to perfection. We also tried the whole spring chicken coated in moroccan spices with pan fried oyster mushroom and sweet and sour shallots. For dessert, we had to try the restaurants signature Le Citron tart. The dessert was light and fresh, with enough lemony tartness in every bite, it was a real highlight.

Sad to be leaving, our transport took us off to the airport, but with the promise to each other that we would repeat this experience in a heartbeat.

A couple of years ago we visited Fes in Morocco, we stayed in some beautiful riads and really got to explore the ancient walled city. To find out more, read our blog on 8 Best Things to do in Fes – Morocco post here, and check out or post on Hotel Review | Palais Houyam – Fes riad too.

I’ve always worked with hotels when I travel abroad, but not so much here in the UK. So in 2025 I really want to network with owners of some beautiful spaces, villas and hotels and create some amazing imagery for your business. Please get in touch if you would like some more info on what we can offer.
